After Valentine’s Day

So this week was Valentine and it was right in the middle of a working week. This was a valid excuse for not going out for me. Coupled with the fact that I enjoy relaxing after work at home. Well, one of the things I did was to scan social media as  knew there will be some pranks for the day and I was not disappointed.

In short, the very first one was a tweet from one guy asking that people should kindly tweet till it got to the present consent. Meanwhile, his tweet was to one certain named fellow. not to buy the lie, his girlfriend named also would give him as an excuse for not turning up on that day as he had literally heard her in the bus  making plans to go elsewhere with another guy.

Talk about helping another brother out. I laughed and thought  about how we ladies sometimes watch out for each other. You know, especially when we think a friend’s man is getting some rather unnecessary attention from another lady and she’s not aware.

Well, Saint Valentine’s Day is not bereft of its own drama as well as reality checks.

So let’s assume you’ve been chatting with this person for some time and somehow you have been  thinking there is some mutual interest. You console yourself that Valentine day  is near and intentions will be made. However, you notice that as the day draws closer, your communication appears to have crept to a halt and you wise decide to take the back seat. Perhaps absence will make the heart pound but that appears to be no change and Valentine’s Day comes and goes and they remain quiet. Well, while I will not like to be the bearer of bad news, I can categorially say he’s not into you or not that into you. And let’s leave those five words and not  to try to defend . analyse or explain them. Remember that although words can

lie actions do not. He probably sees you as a friend with the same kindred spirit and that’s okay. Let’s make time for  the person who truly loves.

But what if the guy above is your husband and you are in a committed relationship? Are you going to put it down to not being into you anymore or what should be the approach or permit  me to ask if this has been your normal or has it become

a new normal? Is it possible that the ups and downs of life has crept into your relationship or could it be time for a relationship check? Mark my words. I’m not saying time to go nagging about

how nothing happened but actually checking why things have changed. Is there something I have done to contribute to the current state of affairs is a question we need to ask

.I mean, this is not the time to compare presents some of our other girlfriends received from their boos

Funny enough, in one of the  videos I watched ,there was this  woman complaining and  mentioning   all the things her friends got  for  Valentine’s to our husband until he told her his bestfriend got a second wife for Valentine.

Case closed.

So yes, if Valentine then has become a thing of the past in your home without mutual consent then it’s probably time for a relationship check. Sometimes this might even mean and need the help of a marriage  counsellor. Please talk about it and do not sweep it under the carpet.

I know there is a  a certain school of thought that says that we should show love or we do show love every day and so do not in the special day but I am yet to meet anyone who got offended because

they were appreciated especially on a special day. I love you, is  music to the ears and can move several things from just being  duty to delight and if you’re wondering that Gracilis  is not saying anything to those  who are singularly  single, well hold on to your seat belt and watch out for “After Valentine Day 2”,
