My children were tired of playing the regular card games.
It was getting harder to win based on their rule of 5 wins.
So they added an elimination part.
It was a simple rule, after one person wins, they would count the value of the cards left in the hands of others.
The person with the highest value was out, then another round would start.
It was going on well but my second son kept losing 🙁
You can guess he was not a very happy boy.😁
Finally his father had pity on him and told him “stop holding on to the cards that have large numbers. Use them first”.
You see, he was holding on to cards 20, 14, 7 in order to have an advantage but as you can see it was not helping.
Let’s reflect a little.
The answer would seem easy to you but not to him.
It happens to the best of us.
We keep holding on to anger, bitterness, strife.
Because we think we are right, justified and we want to have an advantage over people who have hurt us.
But it never works.
Instead it stops us from winning.
From having success.
From moving forward.
The bible says in NIV. Heb 12:1
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the rave marked out for us.
So today, it’s simple.
Let go of sin
Let go of everything that slows down our Christian race.
Let go of anything that makes you angry, bitter, and walk in unforgiveness.
Because you need to drop it all in order to win.
You need to let go, in order to succeed.
You need to let go, in order to be at the top.
And yes, he finally won a few games.
Because he started letting go of the cards that were weighing him down and stopping him from winning.
I know it’s not easy to let go but…
Talk to Jesus.
He’s just a prayer away.
