After the Wedding
I do not know if you have had the experience of hearing these four words “I am your husband!” I smile thinking about the few guys who introduced themselves to me in this way during my single days. It was enough for me to walk away laughing. However, this little statement has had a different effect on me since I said ‘I DO’.Marriage is good – it really is, and I’ll defend and support getting married to the right person any day and anytime. However, God in His infinite wisdom has decided that we would not come to each other as perfect beings, but work together to achieve perfection in…

After Valentine’s Day 2
I still remember the first Valentine cantered conversation I overheard .It was in a class in an A-level schooI attended in preparation for the university admission. So these two guys were talking about how the day went. One of them mentioned his girlfriend had come with a card and a present to wish him a happy day but he wanted something more and told her that ,if she really loved him, she should give him her body . I don’t know how my ears didn’t drop but having grown up all my life in church ,my immediate conclusion was that she was going to get pregnant .I was appalled especially…

Entitled Sex
So last week, Gracilis was talking about sexual assault and attempted rape. Interestingly enough, none of the perpetrators were friends of the ladies and I sometimes wonder how perpetrators get to that sense of entitlement. I could fully empathize with the writers and glad that Gracilis had a narrow escape . It made me remember when I had to stay over at a friend’s place some years ago. This friend was not in town and allowed me to stay over for a few days. As I got into the room, thanking God for a safe journey and unpacking my bags, I heard a neighbouring female moaning in the bliss of…

Convictions & Convincing
The year is gradually coming to an end and being alive in itself is one miracle we can all be grateful for. Recently I have noticed an increase in the number of videos where a public marriage proposals are made. Unfortunately, most of these recorded proposals received a negative answer. Some people might argue that these are all done for clout and although the reasons may vary, it is interesting to see people these days reject a marriage proposal especially knowing fully well that they are being filmed. And then the question goes on to why the proposal was made in public especially f the supposed partner was not sure the…

Weird Proposals 3
When it comes to proposals, sometimes they go south because they have been done too early And then the question comes on how early is too early ? I say it actually depends .I know someone who proposed to his wife two weeks after they met . They were on a date and he asked her to marry him .She asked him “when?”.and then he told her ,give me an answer first and then we will work the details out .Of course ,it takes someone who is tryout convinced and know what they are looking for ,especially with the ability to recognize it and almost twenty years later ,they are still…

Weird Proposals
I sit back at my desk thinking of what to write today as I have just returned from a long day shift. I hardly ever run out of ideas and have been thinking about topics we would be dealing with very soon but if there is any thing I would generally like to write about , it is those things I remember that bring laughter. Laughter sometimes not because it is funny but because somethings are so crazily akward that the only appropriate response is to laugh. I remember as a child going towards the bus stop where the shoemakers usually keep their wares / There was this particular shoemaker …

Pregnant? An altar reason
Not all marriages begin with “Will you marry me ?”. Some of them begin with “I don carry belle” (“I don carry belle” means I have an unplanned pregnancy)-Facebook Post by Godwin Tom-Lawyer (things that make you say chai ) Sometime ago, my elder brother (Godwin) put up the above post on Facebook (seriously almost all his posts are interesting and when I read it, it initially brought laughter. However, after the laughter, I thought about all the people that I have seen in the latter predicament who sadly had taken that path to save face immediately but actually had found themselves in terrible conditions later on in the long run. While we…

Perfect Picture
One of the signs of a good book is the ability to enjoy it over and over again . Some of our articles have been voted as most read and most loved and some readers have suggested we put those articles in a category “Timeless stories” and periodically publish them again. The article below is one of them which I believe is great for us to reread especially as we have five more months to go this year ..Enjoy I recently started a new job and am still in the process of knowing everybody. It is almost two weeks now but I still seem to be meeting new people daily.…

My altar journey
Diary Excerpt 1 :It really isn’t that easy, although everybody says it is. This is getting too tricky for my liking. Nothing could have prepared me for this but the pressure is serious. Big sis always says don’t make your husband despise your family and don’t make your family despise your husband. Really tricky!! I assumed that since dad is clergy and a really good marriage counsellor, my case should be pretty straight forward. I forgot this would be new territory to him and his reactions are so foreign to me. I don’t know this guy, cos this ain’t my Daddy! Diary Excerpt 2: I haven’t written in a long while because a part of me…

That “other” woman 5
This is the concluding part from part 4…… Basically, her husband was a service provider whom I made contact with severally to supply certain things and my crime was that on her accompanying him to the delivery this particular time, she found out that my address had changed and he knew the new place I resided. I recall coming out to pick the goods and noticing her face was a bit sour that day but I concluded then that there was probably something else on her mind . I tell you it was painful but I did not know the extent of the pain until I left her presence and got on the one hour bus…
